Structure Sets You Free: Samba, Brazil and the Business of Bookkeeping

Recently I spent almost five months in Brazil — from the roar of Rio Carnaval to the studios of Salvador, Bahia, the spiritual home of samba. I came home with a suitcase of artistic inspiration, and something I hadn't gone looking for: a new way to run my business.

This is a personal talk about creativity and structure, and why they belong together. We'll explore why structure is the source of freedom, not its enemy; how the craft you keep outside your work can become a real force for professional growth; and why you have permission to run your business as your whole self. Along the way, I'll share pictures and stories on what Afro-Brazilian culture and its traditions taught me.
