Carly Moulang, Associate Professor, Director of Engagement & Impact Thriving Minds Program Director, Monash University

Carly Moulang is an Associate Professor at Monash University with over 20 years experience in Higher Education. She holds a Ph.D. from Monash Business School and Graduate Diploma in Psychology from Monash University. Carly is a member of CPA Australia and CA ANZ. Carly has won multiple awards for her teaching and research, and in 2021 she won a global award from CGMA Global University and Academic Centre for Excellence for Global Distinguished Excellence, Most Influential Lecturer.  Carly conducts multidisciplinary research and is passionate about incorporating psychological research within business disciplines. In 2020 Carly won the Dean’s Commendation Award for Excellence in Equity, Diversity and Social Inclusion (Research). Carly has conducted extensive research in the well-being space, some of which can be found on her website with colleague Dr Alessandro Ghio at ww.workingwomenandwellbeing.com.  This research has attracted significant media attention and which research paper “Psychological Resources that Help Women Accountants Flourish: Exploring the Relationships between Organisational Practices, Psychological Resources, and Organizational Outcomes” with Alessandro Ghio has been selected for the Best Paper Award at the 2021 Diversity Section Meeting from the American Accounting Association. Carly is asked regularly to speak at international and national conferences about her research and how to effectively engage with the media.  Examples of Carly’s multidisciplinary research and interest include well-being, psychological safety, psychological capital, burnout, creativity, decision-making, whistleblowing, psychological resources, emotional labour and performance management research.   Carly’s research has been widely disseminated via television, documentaries, podcasts, radio interviews and news articles. She also regularly writes for Thrive Global APAC on topics such as mindfulness, mindsets and psychological safety. Carly has been practicing mindfulness for the past 15 years and is a mindfulness practitioner who teaches leaders how to be more mindful in the MBA program at Monash University. In her spare time, Carly is a board member and treasurer for Mums Supporting Families in Need, a not-for-profit organization based in Seaford, Victoria, which provides material aid for families in crisis.
