Dr. Raymond P. Goodrich is a distinguished biomedical researcher and innovator with over 37 years of experience in transfusion medicine, pathogen reduction technologies, and immunotherapy. He is a tenured professor in the Department of Microbiology, Immunology, and Pathology at Colorado State University (CSU) and holds an adjunct professorship in Chemistry at The Ohio State University. Dr. Goodrich served as the Executive Director of CSU’s Infectious Disease Research Center (IDRC) from 2016 to 2023, where he oversaw key facilities including the Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing and Academic Resource Center (BioMARC), the Regional Biocontainment Lab (RBL), and the Research Innovation Center (RIC). Before his tenure at CSU, Dr. Goodrich held leadership roles in the medical device industry, notably as Vice President of Scientific and Clinical Affairs and Chief Scientific Officer for Blood Bank Technologies at Terumo BCT. He is credited with over 50 patents and has co-authored more than 200 peer-reviewed publications. His notable inventions include the Mirasol™ Pathogen Reduction Technology (PRT), Innocell™, and SolaVAX™ platforms, which have significantly advanced blood safety and vaccine development. In recognition of his contributions to medical research and innovation, Dr. Goodrich has received several honors, including an honorary Order of Military Medical Merit in 2018 and the CSU Ventures Award for Innovative Excellence in 2021 for his leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic. Most recently (2025), he has been awarded the Dale A. Smith Memorial award by the Association for the Advancement of Blood and Biotherapies (AABB) in recognition of his pioneering work which led to the development and implementation of pathogen-reduction technology.
