Ivan Monforte is the Programme Coordinator for the Giga Technology Centre in Barcelona, a joint initiative between the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and UNICEF aimed at accelerating connectivity for schools and learners worldwide. Based between Barcelona and Geneva, Ivan co-leads this global effort to bridge the digital divide through innovation, policy, and infrastructure.
Prior to joining ITU, Ivan held several senior leadership roles in the Cybersecurity Agency of Catalonia, where he led public awareness campaigns, ecosystem development, and strategic communications. He also served as a crisis management expert with the UN Office of Counter-Terrorism, specialising in cyber crisis response.
With a background in digital policy, cybersecurity communications, and public administration, Ivan brings more than a decade of experience across the public and private sectors. He holds an Executive MBA from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya and has been a consistent advocate for inclusive, resilient digital ecosystems.
