Julie W. Munro is president of the Medical Travel Quality Alliance (MTQUA), which she founded in 2009 to promote safer and better care management that leads to better outcomes for medical tourists. She speaks with authority about care management as one of the few leaders in medical tourism with direct personal experience as an international patient herself, through treatment and care of her family, and as a medical travel care manager/facilitator for hundreds of clients. Munro has been a leader in medical tourism for more than a decade. She has a keen, practical understanding of health care operations in a number of developing countries, private hospital systems and enterprise growth, and business development opportunities. She initiated the annual MTQUA Top 10 list of the World’s Best Hospitals for Medical Tourists™. She is author of several white papers on patient care management including Care And Management of Traveling International Patients, the most downloaded and influential paper in medical tourism. Munro publishes and writes for MTQUA’s Inside Medical Travel newsletter, and contributes to several health care related publications and blogs including Healthcare Finance News and the ITIJ Medical Travel Review.
