Sarah Blackmore, Executive director, Social Work England

Sarah is the Executive director of professional practice and external engagement at Social Work England, and was part of the team who established this specialist regulator in 2019. She qualified as a social worker from Trinity College Dublin in 1997 and has an MBA from the University of Edinburgh. She has worked in a variety of national and international contexts, across statutory, voluntary and regulatory services and is the Vice chair of Young Lives vs Cancer, a UK-wide charity. Sarah has played a leading role in the emergence of AI and digital technology in social work in England, working closely with leaders in social work and social care, government departments and other regulatory bodies to ensure the opportunities this presents are championed, but with public safety first and foremost.
