Bill Maguire is founder of Connected Communities LLC and an advisor to local governments,
non-profit organizations and technology companies. In 2017, Bill developed a Smart City 101
training curriculum to introduce and explore the ideas and projects that drive global interest in
Smart City deployments. Since 2017, approximately 200 smart city leaders have participated in
Connected Communities LLC’s Smart City 101 workshops.

Prior to founding Connected Communities LLC, Bill served as Chief of Staff for the Broadband
Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP) at the National Telecommunications and
Information Administration (NTIA). The $4.7 billion BTOP program supported the deployment
of 100,000 fiber network miles connecting 20,000 anchor institutions, including more than
10,000 K-12 schools.
Bill is a graduate of Reed College and of Union Theological Seminary in New York.
