Dr. Michael Salgaller leads an alliance development unit within the NIH’s Technology Transfer Center. His unit fosters licensing and collaborative activity between buy-side stakeholders and the NIH. There, he leverages >20 years of business, scientific, and investment experience in various life science sectors. Immediately prior, Michael was a Vice President at a healthcare-focused government affairs firm in DC, where helped healthcare companies, entrepreneurs and investors connect with federal agencies. He served as President of Biologics Consulting Group, a boutique firm providing professional services focused on regulatory affairs. Michael spent several years on the investment team of a venture capital firm dedicated to the life sciences. His buy-side career began as Vice President of R&D for Northwest Biotherapeutics, leading the development of cancer therapies. He began his career as a Senior Scientist at NIH. Despite many interesting positions, his favorite was working at the Pittsburgh Zoo feeding hot dogs to polar bears. He authored “Biotechnology Entrepreneurship,” and teaches an entrepreneurship class at NIH. He has written over 70 scientific/business articles. He received his PhD in Pathology from The Ohio State University.
