Mike Makrigiorgos, Professor For Department Of Radiation Oncology, Dana Farber and Harvard Medical School

Dr. Makrigiorgos is a Professor and Director of the Medical Physics & Biophysics division in Radiation Oncology at Dana Farber Cancer Institute and Brigham and Women’s Hospitals, Harvard Medical School. He is also an Associate at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard.  His research interests include the development of novel DNA technologies for molecular diagnostics in Oncology and the detection of low-level mutations and methylation in circulating cancer biomarkers using PCR and NGS-based technologies.  Funded by NIH over the last 30 years, he invented PCR-based technologies for molecular diagnostics, including Balanced-PCR, COLD-PCR and NaME-PrO.  He is a Member of the Editorial Board of Clinical Chemistry and has published over 250 articles in journals including Nature Medicine, Nature Biotechnology, Nucleic Acid Research and Cancer Research.  His most recent work has been in the detection of minimal residual disease in liquid biopsies.
