Michael is a principal solution engineer at Posit PBC. A scientist by training and at heart, Michael holds a PhD in theoretical astrophysics from the University of Heidelberg, Germany. Following a postdoc fellowship in Cambridge, UK, Michael left science and worked for companies like Red Hat, NEC and ClusterVision where he acquired the technical foundations in Linux and High Performance computing. With the scientific mindset he started to work for Novartis and Roche in various roles, covering both research and late stage clinical on the IT as well as on the business side, consulting with scientists. Michael eventually started working at RStudio, now Posit PBC, as a principal solution engineer where he focuses on HPC technologies as well as life sciences/healthcare and Pharma customers, putting the previously acquired domain skills to work.
