Maziyar Panahi is a Principal Architect for Healthcare AI at France's National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) and the founder of OpenMed, an initiative dedicated to creating open and auditable AI for medicine. He is a leading figure in the development and deployment of large-scale, on-premise AI systems for the life sciences. Previously, Maziyar was the technical lead and chief architect of Spark NLP, the most widely used Natural Language Processing library in the enterprise. His work on Spark NLP established the de facto standard for medical AI, powering the vast majority of clinical and biomedical AI models on major cloud platforms and running in production at over hundreds hospitals and pharmaceutical companies worldwide. At CNRS, Maziyar now focuses on building the next generation of sovereign, multi-modal AI platforms capable of processing clinical documents, ambient audio, and medical imagery within an organization's own secure infrastructure. His work is centered on the belief that for AI to be truly trusted in clinical and GxP environments, it must be transparent, auditable, and fully under the control of the healthcare institution.
