Dr. Satya Ramaswamy is on a mission to make Air India one of the most technologically advanced airlines in the world. He heads our Digital & Technology organization that has twin responsibilities — owning Air India’s digital channels and helping all our departments deploy technologies to delight customers and achieve operational excellence. Dr. Satya led the rapid digital transformation of Air India after its return to the Tata Group, laying down from the ground-up a comprehensive modern digital applications landscape covering all departments and creating award winning consumer digital channels including the Air India mobile app and website, generative AI chatbot AI.g, and flight-related travel alerts. He conceptualised and led the disruption-free seamless technology integration of Air India and Vistara as a critical part of the merger of these two full-service airlines.
Dr. Satya has over 30 years of software engineering, product management and business leadership experience in India and the United States. He is a lifelong fan of aviation, views aviation as the greatest accomplishment of humankind and brings enthusiasm for the industry to his role at Air India. In previous roles, he has helped multiple leading global airlines execute digital transformation programs. An entrepreneurial leader who sets a fast pace for his organization, Dr. Satya is passionate about ‘zero to one’ technology journeys. An early adopter of digital, he has witnessed the evolution of mobile technologies, cloud, big data analytics, social media, and modern AI technologies from their earliest days. Dr. Satya serves on the Steering Group in the Digital Transformation Advisory Council of the International Air Transport Association (IATA). He is a winner of the Red Dot Design Concepts Award, the Adobe Experience Maker of the Year Award and the global SAP Innovation Award.
