Juan Carlos Almanza is an experienced leader in the aeronautical industry, bringing over 15 years of expertise in flight and airport operations, data analytics, regulatory compliance, and customer service. As the Below The Wing Airport Director at Aeroméxico, he led a team of over 2,600 employees at Mexico City International Airport (MEX), managing more than 270 daily departures, 70,000 passengers, and 50,000 bags per day. Under his leadership, on-time performance improved by 10 percentage points year-over-year, baggage performance KPIs increased by 40 percentage points, and Aeroméxico was recognized as the most on-time global airline in 2024. He successfully managed major operational challenges, including volcanic ash incidents, infrastructure failures, and severe weather conditions, while driving technological advancements in real-time staff management, gate assignments, and cargo/baggage tracking. Collaborating with industry leaders such as PASSUR, INFORM, and Brock Solutions, he introduced innovative digital solutions to optimize efficiency. Previously, as the Airport Director for Avianca in Colombia, he managed operations across 17 stations and implemented revenue-generation strategies. In his role as Operations Analysis Director at Avianca, he integrated Power BI dashboards to enhance decision-making and played a key role in the planning and execution of COVID-19 operation suspension and reactivation. He holds degrees in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering from Universidad de los Andes. Beyond his professional expertise, Juan Carlos is a passionate sportsman and music DJ.
