Boyd Wilson is the Care Group Director of Infection Prevention and Control for HealthPartners, based in Minnesota. HealthPartners, an integrated health care organization providing health care services and health plan financing and administration, is the largest consumer governed nonprofit health care organization in the nation. He is an infection prevention representative to the care group antibiotic stewardship program that includes both acute care and ambulatory care initiatives. Boyd has been board certified in infection prevention and control (CIC) since 1998 and received his long term care certification in infection prevention (LTC-CIP) in 2022. Boyd previously served as the system director of infection prevention and employee health and safety for the HealthEast Care System in St Paul. He was a member of the public policy committee for the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) and has also served in leadership roles with APIC Minnesota, including on the board as well as chapter president. In 2010, he was recognized by APIC Minnesota with the Chapter Leader Award and was a recipient of the APIC National Chapter Leadership Award in 2011. He received the APIC Fellow designation in 2016 and also had recognition as one of awardees of the APIC Heroes of Infection Prevention in 2013 and in 2020. Boyd is a member of the Minnesota Healthcare-Associated Infection (HAI) Advisory Committee as well as the Minnesota Department of Health HAI Committee. He also participates in the mentor program with the School of Public Health at the University of Minnesota to help develop and support future infection preventionists. Boyd is currently serving in his third year on the board of the Certification Board for Infection Control and Epidemiology (CBIC).
