Arwed Schmidt is EasyMile’s Director of Strategic Initiatives - Passenger Transportation and Managing Director for EasyMile in Germany. He creates awareness and visibility of the strengths and varied use cases of autonomous vehicle technology, while forging close working relationships with partners, governments and academia. Arwed is a committed specialist in autonomous electric vehicles, bringing more than 10 years of working experience in project management and strategy to EasyMile. Prior to this he studied Industrial Engineering at Technical University Berlin where he focused on renewable energy systems and electric mobility. He completed his academic education in 2016 with a doctoral thesis exploring, “Fleet Management of Electric and Autonomous Service Agents in Urban Local Passenger Traffic”, and won an award related to the future of mobility.  Arwed is fueled by his personal drive to combine renewable energy with the right mobility solutions to shape society so that humans can thrive. He considers EasyMile the best company sufficiently dedicated to autonomous driving to be aligned with his vision, as well as making AVs the answer to sustainable climate change. As a tennis coach in his spare time, Arwed knows that early and honest investment into talent, paired with passion and discipline, brings trust, success, and invariably some fun as well. He treats his team in EasyMile as if he is the coach and enjoys watching their wins in their own specific playgrounds.
