Dr. Girija is a seasoned educator with over two decades of experience in the higher education sector. Her dedication to advancing life sciences education is evident through her multifaceted contributions. Throughout her career, Girija has been at the forefront of educational innovation, spearheading the development of inquiry-based learning programs in Science and integrating digital tools to foster deep learning experiences. Her commitment to enhancing teaching quality led her to create competency standards for faculty development, ensuring higher education educators are equipped with the necessary skills to excel in their roles. Girija has played a pivotal role in leading a team to develop multimedia digital content for lecturer and student learning portals. Her involvement in various projects, including chairing initiatives focused on Professional Development for Teaching and Learning and ICT-enhanced teaching, underscores her leadership and expertise in educational technology. During the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic, Girija demonstrated leadership by guiding the teaching community in transitioning to online instruction. She formulated institutional policies to address the unique challenges posed by the pandemic, ensuring continuity in education while prioritizing the safety and well-being of students and faculty. Driven by a passion for empowering educators and fostering authentic learning experiences, Girija continuously seeks to enhance her own skills through lifelong learning. Her academic achievements, including a Master in Public Administration from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy and a Master of Training and Development from Griffith University, reflect her commitment to excellence. As a trained dentist and accomplished researcher, Girija brings a unique perspective to her educational endeavors. Her research contributions have garnered recognition at major international symposiums, showcasing her expertise in both academia and practice. Additionally, her certifications, including ACTA (Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment) and a Diploma in Teaching English as a Second Language, highlight her dedication to professional development. Girija's outstanding contributions to education have been recognized through various accolades, including the prestigious National Day Award 2018 Public Medal Administration (Bronze). Her work as a facilitator and curriculum designer, coupled with her certifcation as specialist problem crafter, further establishes her reputation as a leader in Problem Based Learning educational excellence.
