Nick joined Takeda in January 2013, initially in a Regional capacity (Europe and Canada) as a Data Privacy Consultant in the Compliance Department and then as Director, Compliance & Data Privacy based at the company?s Zurich office. Nick has since joined Takeda?s Global Legal Department where he now leads the team established to advise and support the global business on all aspects of data privacy law and compliance. Nick has significant experience of dealing with data protection and privacy issues in the life sciences industry having also worked for AstraZeneca, as Global Privacy Counsel, as well as advising industry clients in private practice at the London office of international law firm Reed Smith LLP. Previously, Nick worked for many years at the Information Commissioner?s Office (ICO), the UK?s data privacy regulator, where he was the Commissioner?s Legal Adviser. There he headed up the ICO?s Legal Team and was instrumental in the development of key areas of policy and guidance, including the ICO?s approach to international transfers and enforcement.
