Lindsay attained both her BSc and PhD in Animal Sciences at the University of Leeds, England, before undertaking postgraduate research at Cambridge University, Dept of Medicine. Switching careers, Lindsay qualified as a chartered accountant whilst working as an external auditor and later moved into a professional training role for UK accountants. On moving to Switzerland in 2002, Lindsay took up a role in Internal Audit with Actelion Pharmaceuticals, a young Swiss based, global pharmaceutical group and was responsible for introducing control and governance frameworks in the lead up to this listed group attaining SOX 404 compliance. The Internal Audit focus shifted towards commercial compliance. Lindsay now heads up the Internal Audit function for Ferring Pharmaceuticals, a privately owned Swiss based, global pharmaceutical business. Audit activities are dual focused, covering operations and finance and as the scoping is risk based, commercial compliance, fraud and bribery are frequently the objectives of the audits.
