James is a Senior Business Development Manager in the Asymptomatic Testing Solutions (ATS), Genetic Sciences Division (GSD) at Thermo Fisher Scientific. James is a veterinary epidemiologist and has a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BVSc) Massey University 2007, Master of Veterinary Public Health Management (MVPHMgt) 2013 & Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) 2017; both from the University of Sydney. Prior to joining Thermo Fisher Scientific in 2019, James worked in commercial and technical roles, including as technical consultant to the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations undertaking 3 missions between 2013-2018 focused on value chain & risk analysis of transboundary avian influenza and training on value chain analysis and applied economics for disease mitigation. James has authored and coauthored 29 peer reviewed articles with more than 340+ citations. James has significant experience with working on disease epidemics and pandemics in the veterinary field and was the Commercial Manager for AgriBusiness in Asia Pacific & Japan from 2019 to 2021. In mid-2020, James pivoted and took on extra responsibilities to support the COVID-19 response and has been closely involved in the ?Back to Travel? market, working with aviation stakeholders (airlines, airports, eHealth passport developers, and travel agencies) to help link trusted laboratories and enable safe travel.
