Pauline is interested in language and its role in learning and literacy. She teaches English curriculum to preservice teachers and researches literacy in the curriculum disciplines. As current president of the PETAA, she leads a national organisation which puts research into the hands of teachers through their professional learning and publication program. The most recent of which recognises the increasingly multimodal, digital nature of literacy practices across the school years and within the curriculum.
In her talk she will address some of the challenges facing the profession and initial teacher education as teachers implement multimodal digital literacies in their classrooms. She suggests that some familiar concepts and practices will find new uses in many digital environments but that attention should be paid to the different uses to which multimodality is put in specific school subjects.
