Matt Woodley, Senior Professional Practice Officer, Victorian Institute of Teaching

Matt has been working in Victorian education for 17 years, spending 14 years as a primary school teacher before joining VIT. Matt initially studied multidisciplinary science and later returned to study teaching in 2005. This background in the sciences and education have shown him the importance of ongoing professional learning for any profession, but especially for teaching. Matt’s role at VIT is to ensure there is a strong connection between VIT and the teaching profession. He regularly presents to pre-service teachers and provisionally registered teachers and conducts VIT’s mentor training. Matt is particularly passionate about how VIT can best support early career teachers as they enter the profession.
