For more than twenty years, Geoff Masters AO has provided educational leadership through his role as Chief Executive and member of the board of the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER); his research publications and speaking engagements; and reviews for school systems and governments.
He has built ACER into a global research organisation with offices throughout Australia and subsidiaries in the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, India, Malaysia and Indonesia.
His publications include Reforming Educational Assessment: Imperatives, Principles and Challenges.
Geoff Masters’ work with governments and school systems has included the development of strategies for improving literacy and numeracy learning; a review of senior secondary assessment and tertiary entrance procedures; the development of a National School Improvement Tool and Principal Performance Improvement Tool; the review of the NSW school curriculum; and an in-depth international study of five top-performing school systems. His contributions to education have been recognised through the award of the Australian College of Educators’ Medal and his appointment as an Officer of the Order of Australia.
