Andrew is currently the Instructional Engineer at Tec-NQ, a school / RTO for Y11 and 12 students looking to achieve a trade apprenticeship in Electrical, Engineering, Construction, Hospitality, Health or Automotive. His role is to provide support to trainers and teachers who want to use technology in teaching. This is achieved via analysis, design, development and delivery planning of computer-based learning systems. Integrating concepts, processes and principles of instructional design, software engineering and cognitive modeling.
Andrew is an Information Technology professional with 30 years experience with education, climate change, mining, exploration, health, legal and natural resources. He has run his own consultancy for 20 years to provide one on one services to various businesses needing help with using technology in their business.
He has a passion for education involving technology or more analog techniques. He would consider himself to be highly creative nature where he will infuse that creativity into his training in order to engage students better by inspiring curiosity which in his opinion is where true learning takes place.
He has recently completed a Masters in Information Technology at JCU and now working through updating his skills in Full Stack Development to gain multiple Certifications in DevOps and Python.
Andrew also has a side interest in meteorology and runs a Facebook page of 65000 followers called Wally's Weather Australia; and he won two Australia Day awards during the floods of 2019 for Citizen of the Year category and the environmental and sustainability category.
