Cheryl Thornton is the Regional HR Director for Gulf Marketing Group (Nike GCC), and has group-wide responsibility for the People remit leading the HR Business Partners and group-wide responsibility for business transformation, organization development, change management, performance management, engagement and culture. Cheryl’s remit spans across the GCC with over 5,500 employees.
Prior to joining GMG, Cheryl held various management roles in real estate, banking, retail and aviation. She has worked with family-owned conglomerates and multi-national organizations in several markets across the Middle East, Africa, Jordan, Lebanon and Asia Pacific regions.
With over 20 years' experience gained in HR, Operations and Customer Service, Cheryl holds an MBA (Strategic HRM) and Bachelor Degrees from the University of New England, Australia. She is a Chartered Member of CIPD and the Australian Human Resources Institute, and is certified in organizational assessment and psychometric testing from the European Federation of Psychologists and British Psychological Society.
Cheryl is a certified business coach with the International Coaching Federation and a qualified MBTI practitioner. She is also an active member of the regional HR community as a conference speaker and a contributing writer to the HR Observer Newsletter.
