William Wilcock, Professor, University of Washington

William Wilcock is a professor in the School of Oceanography at the University of Washington, Seattle, where he holds the Jerome M. Paros Endowed Chair in Sensor Networks.  He is a marine geophysicist whose research interests include the seismicity of submarine volcanoes, seafloor geodesy, subduction zone deformation, distributed acoustic sensing and baleen whale vocalizations.  His research emphasizes the use of cabled seafloor observatories for sustained observations. He is presently the principal investigator on the U.S. National Science Foundation funded Cascadia Offshore Subduction Zone Observatory (COSZO) mid-scale infrastructure project which is enhancing the Ocean Observatories Initiative Regional Cabled Array offshore central Oregon for subduction zone studies.
