Quantifying hail damages on PV-systems

  • Analyze advanced methodologies for the precise assessment of hail impact, moving beyond visible surface cracks to identify micro-fractures and cell degradation using electroluminescence (EL) imaging and thermography.
  • Examine statistical models and historical weather data to quantify the financial risks associated with hail events, providing a data-driven basis for insurance premiums and long-term O&M (Operations and Maintenance) budgeting.
  • Evaluate the correlation between hailstone size, impact angle, and module glass thickness to establish standardized damage benchmarks, enabling asset managers to make informed decisions on component replacement versus continued operation.
