SAWA is Vietnam’s leading non-profit association dedicated to advancing sustainable timber construction. Our mission is to build a sustainable and prosperous timber construction ecosystem in Vietnam through innovation, collaboration, and the cultivation of a skilled workforce. We aim to bridge the gap between complex standards, policies, and best practices, fostering industry development for individuals, businesses, industry bodies, and policymakers.
SAWA purpose is to respond to the United Nations advocacy for increased timber use in construction for a greener world, Vietnam’s ambitious international obligations to be net-zero by 2050, and the Vietnam Government Economic Decree for timber products to become a USD 6 billion domestic industry by 2030.
SAWA is officially recognised by Vietnamese authorities to be the Net Zero focal point for other major construction associations and government policy dialogues to advance practices with timber and other net-zero construction materials. Sawa members gain access to approximately 1,000 + major sponsors across the construction and timber industry supply chains, who represent a workforce of over 500,000. This extensive network positions SAWA as a key partner for impactful events, market development, pilot projects, and long-term collaborations in the timber construction and climate-resilient housing sectors.
SAWA is driving Vietnam to become a future leader in the global mass timber value chain through the connectivity of our programs from Forestry & Wood Supply - Architects/Engineering, Manufacturing, Construction, and policy sectors. Our activities include seminars/workshops, capacity building, policy advocacy, research and development programs, and the SAWA Ecosystem Awards, which recognise excellence across the timber construction industry.
