Paul has a Degree in Natural Sciences and a PhD in Materials Science from the University of Cambridge. He is a Senior Innovation & Technical Evaluation Coordinator at National Energy Action (NEA), the fuel poverty and energy efficiency charity. He has been part of the Innovation and Technical Evaluation team since 2016 and has worked on many projects evaluating the performance of technologies that will reduce bills and improve thermal comfort for fuel poor households. He has written more than 15 project reports that evaluate the performance of solar PV, battery storage and heat pump systems in social housing. A recent award winning project with North Devon Homes focused on 'Evaluating solar PV with Electric Heating'. This included combined installations of solar PV, battery storage and ASHPs with the households reducing their bills further by using smart time-of-use tariffs. A current project will be installing some integrated EcoFlow systems comprising solar PV, battery storage, ASHP, solar immersion controller and backup gateway.
