Chris Buckland, Global Technical Director, Lightsource bp

Chris Buckland has over 35 years of international engineering and operational experience in high tech industries. He has been active in the solar power industry since 2005, working across Europe and Asia prior to joining the start-up team at Lightsource bp in the UK in 2010.

He has served as the technical lead for all large and mid-scale solar power deployment by Lightsource bp in the UK and currently operates as Group Technical Director across all Lightsource bp jurisdictions, with a particular focus on solar energy plant realisation during new country entry.

Chris is responsible for new technology deployment and innovation at Lightsource bp, covering areas such as energy storage, floating solar, off-grid systems and liaising with BP Ventures and new technology teams.
He has published and presented at various forums, covering topics including photovoltaic manufacturing facilities, photovoltaic industry trends, total productive maintenance (TPM) and greenfield start-ups.
