Ian Betts is a regional leader in business and risk management, strategic advisory and political risk analysis, and an experienced professional in all aspects of corporate affairs with more than three decades in the region. Ian worked in a business advisory role before joining Hill & Associates, where he spent over fifteen years in risk intelligence, analysis, and security risk consulting as Country Head for Indonesia, then Director for Southeast Asia, leading the firm’s operations in Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia from Bangkok and Jakarta in turn and including a global role with G4S in London.  Ian is widely recognised as a specialist on Indonesia, Southeast Asia and the broader APAC region and is a frequent speaker at conferences, forums, and international gatherings. He has a bachelor’s degree in the humanities (politics) and a master’s in international studies Analysis, Governance).  (Political Risk He has also specialised in Islamic Studies, Intractable Conflict Training, Comparative Community Development, and Chinese Politics, and is UK-certified in Education and Training.  Today Ian leads CastleAsia’s flagship Indonesia Country Program (“ICP”), a broad membership of corporations, multinational companies and institutions, diplomatic missions, multilateral and other bodies, with a diverse portfolio of reports and bulletins on business, the policy and regulatory environment, macro-economy and politics based around a regular schedule of roundtable CEO gatherings.
