Atem S Ramsundersingh, CEO, WEnergy Global

Atem S. Ramsundersingh is the Co-Founder, Chief Executive Officer, and Board Director of WEnergy Global Pte Ltd, a Singapore-based developer and investor in hybrid power systems, smart microgrids, and de-dieselization projects across Southeast Asia. Under his leadership, WEnergy Global has become a regional pioneer and lead company in decentralized electrification, delivering ASEAN’s first fully commercial clean offgrid microgrid in Palawan, the Philippines, and expanding the portfolio with 24 new offgrid microgrids in the country while preparing for engagements in the offgrid sector in Indonesia aiming to deploy 100+ microgrids in 2027 and beyond. He is driving scalable, bankable energy solutions that advance UN SDG 7 (Energy Access) and SDG 13 (Climate Action). With more than three decades of global leadership experience, Atem has guided large-scale transformations in energy, water, and infrastructure, serving as Senior Manager at the World Bank Group (Washington DC), Program Director at UNESCO-IHE (Delft), and CEO of a publicly listed industrial groups in Singapore and Malaysia. He has worked in over 80 countries, forging public-private partnerships that combine policy innovation, institutional strengthening, and sustainable investment. Atem currently volunteers as an Global Board Director of the Global Water Partnership (GWP), where he chairs the Programme Sub-Committee and vice-chairs the Nomination Committee, steering global efforts on water security and climate resilience. He promotes private sector engagement and supports capacity building and organisational reforms in public institutions, both for energy and water security. His leadership has been widely recognized — including a Special Recognition from the Philippines Department of Energy (2024) for WEnergy Global’s flagship hybrid microgrid in Palawan, two Dr. Albert Winsemius Awards (2016 and 2022) for Innovation and Sustainability from the Dutch Chamber of Commerce Singapore, the Singapore APEX Corporate Sustainability Award (2016) from the Singapore Business Federation / UN Global Compact Network Singapore, and the Erasmus Energy Business Innovation Award (2014) from the Rotterdam School of Management in The Netherlands — honours that confirm his long-standing contribution to sustainable development and corporate leadership in Asia. A Dutch national based in Singapore, Atem holds a Master’s Degree in Infrastructure Planning & Management from Delft University of Technology, and executive education credentials from Harvard Business School and Cambridge University.
