Gordon Dindi is the Manager of the City of Cape Town’s Distribution System Operator (DSO) and has over twenty years’ experience in power system operations and managing Control Centres. A highlight of his career was the successful consolidation of multiple fragmented municipal control centres into the modernised and highly technologically advanced City of Cape Town’s Control Centre which has an emergency backup facility with dual redundancy between the two centres. He is an integral part of the team responsible for various aspects of grid security, implementing demand response measures, demand-supply real-time balancing, operational load forecasting, accelerated integration of Distributed Energy Resources, the phasing in of grid digitisation and automation whilst considering the least cost options and net benefits.
