Ahmad Ali Gaafar, Chief Marketing Officer, Samsung Electronics

Ahmad Gaafar is the current Chief Marketing Officer for Samsung Electronics Egypt, where he leads the Corporate Marketing, Retail, Business Development, Public Relations and Corporate Citizenship functions. Gaafar also handles driving the overall Brand strategy in the local market, managing the optimization of an annual budget to fortify providing maximum business provisions. Additionally, he leads the retail channel with +30% YoY growth rate, to boost the revenue. 
Gaafar has 23 years of professional experience at the world’s no.1 multinational corporates in fields such as telecommunications and electronics industries. He contributed to diverse operations in the corporates he was part of, dealing with aspects related but not limited to the strategic development, strategic business planning, acquisitions and strategic partnerships’ development amongst others. 
Gaafar moved to Samsung Electronics Egypt, in August 2014, where he worked on the development of operations and marketing strategies for Samsung Electronics Egypt’s Retail, Brand Shops and Organized Retailers Channels, as the Retail Marketing, Operations and Business Development Senior Manager. That led Gaafar afterwards to hold his current position as Samsung Electronics Egypt CMO, starting January 2018. Gaafar’s current position enables him to oversee 4 distinctive operations areas: Corporate Marketing, Retail, Public Relations and Corporate Citizenship. Gaafar with his team, have been working on driving the brand strategy more in the local Egyptian markets, and today Samsung hold a market share of 1st Rank. He has also led the marketing propositions, programs, and business development schemes to record $ 1 bn turnover. Additionally, supervised and controlled the localized CSR activities in the Egyptian society, in line with the company’s global strategy and the country’s Vision 2030 aimed at improving the education and living conditions of the Egyptian citizens. 
Ahmad Gaafar started his career in the early 2000s, where he worked for the Customer Operations, Telesales departments in multi-national corporates such as Vodafone Egypt and CNE Multi-Choice Egypt. Gaafar held many leading positions in Vodafone Egypt broadening his expertise in areas such as brand strategies and marketing communications As of August 2009, he became the Channels’ Propositions Development Team Leader in the Commercial Department in Vodafone Egypt, which led him to hold the position of the Channel Marketing Manager starting August 2010. In September 2013, Gaafar became the Regional Lead of Vodafone Egypt where he led the processes driving the Commercial Strategy, Marketing Activities, Sales Tactics and Channel Geo-Expansion.
