Bunmi Cynthia Adeleye is a distinguished executive and thought leader known for her expertise in predicting retail and e-commerce trends, understanding consumer behaviour, and creating effective growth and transformation strategies. Her insights into market dynamics and consumer behaviour have made her a sought-after speaker and thought leader in retail, eCommerce, strategy, and organizational leadership. With over two decades of experience in leadership roles across retail management, consumer goods, technology implementation, and strategy consulting, Bunmi currently serves as the Chief Strategy Officer at Retail Supermarkets Nigeria Limited, the franchise operator of Shoprite Nigeria. In her current role, Bunmi has been pivotal in guiding the company’s strategic direction and transformation initiatives, especially following its acquisition by Nigerian institutional investors. She is instrumental in shaping corporate strategy, driving innovation and sustainability, and leading organizational change. Before this, Bunmi founded and led Atunda, a consulting firm specializing in digital transformation and organizational change. She provided valuable insights to various companies, including UAC Foods and Dangote International. During her tenure at The HEINEKEN Company, she led major business process improvements and technology implementations across Europe and multiple African countries, enhancing operational efficiency and project management maturity. Her early career included leading high-performing teams at Nigerian Breweries Plc and working as a database administrator at Atos Consulting, providing her with a robust foundation in operational excellence and technical expertise. Recognised as one of the top 45 influential women in digital transformation, Bunmi has led business transformation and strategic initiatives for large corporations and small businesses across various industries and geographies, including Africa, Europe, and the United Kingdom. Her previous roles include significant positions at The HEINEKEN Company, where she served as Senior Regional Technology Programme Manager for the Africa Middle East (AME) region, and Head of Business Process Development and Management in Ethiopia. She also has extensive experience leading Procurement, Finance, and ERP implementation and Change teams at Nigerian Breweries Plc, and began her career as a database administrator and software developer at Atos Consulting and Eco Transnational Bank. Beyond her corporate achievements, Bunmi is an active mentor and passionate advocate for women’s rights and leadership development. Through her multifaceted career, Bunmi continues to influence the consumer goods and retail sectors while championing diversity and inclusion in leadership roles. She is the convener of African Women in Governance, an alumni mentor at Women in Africa (WIA) Mentoring by Deloitte and Cherie Blair Foundation, and a visiting faculty member at the Lagos Business School. She is also involved with various leadership initiatives, including the Commonwealth Study Conference Leaders and the Advisory Board of Nigeria 75. Bunmi holds a Master of Science degree in Information Systems from the University of Sheffield and a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Benin, underpinning her expertise in technology and management. She is a fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants Nigeria and the International Association of Strategy Consultants.
