Nola Marino and her husband Charlie own and operate a dairy farm in Harvey, a small rural community in the South West region of Western Australia. Nola comes from a family with a strong regional business background and ongoing links to the heavy haulage, earthmoving and transport industry.
Her regional business and advocacy experiences have given her a direct appreciation for the issues facing regional Australia today and into the future. Nola has worked with and for small communities, regional and agricultural organisations, and groups for most of her life.
Following her election as the Member for Forrest in 2007, Nola took on the role of Whip and was appointed as the first female Chief Government Whip in 2015. In May 2019, Nola was appointed the Assistant Minister for Regional Development and Territories. In this role Nola engages with a large cross-section of people, organisations and businesses to implement policies and programs to support regional development across Australia. In October 2019 Nola was the co convener of the inaugural Parliamentary Friends of Trucks, Trailers, Transport and logistics a non-partisan forum for MP’s and Senators to meet and interact with representatives of the transport industry.
