Sharon Mullins | Executive Director
Queensland Department of Education

Sharon Mullins, Executive Director, Queensland Department of Education

In her recent role as Executive Director, Youth Engagement, Dr Sharon Mullins has led the Department of Education’s mission to develop and implement key policy directions and initiatives to support all young Queenslanders to remain engaged in study or work, particularly those who are disengaged and at risk of disengagement.
This leadership has included the development and implementation of a range of innovative policy and program reforms focussed on supporting schools to lift retention of the vast majority of students, and to ensure that where students do require other approaches, these alternatives deliver high-quality transitions for students.

Sharon’s lifelong work in education and training has driven innovation and transformation in education and training, particularly focussed on those who are most disadvantaged in education and training.
Her career has included experience as a teacher and researcher in schools, TAFE, universities and the Queensland Government. Sharon has been awarded a Doctor of Philosophy (QUT) and a Public Service Medal.
