Michael heads thought leadership as Director of Research & Insights at Volta Foundation. Prior to Volta, Michael spent his career in industry specializing in battery cell design, materials development, and high-volume manufacturing. He led technical commercialization efforts of next generation silicon anode materials for Panasonic and accompanying OEMs in his last role at Sila Nanotechnologies. Additionally, Michael draws on his experiences from previous roles in cell engineering at Apple—delivering batteries from clean sheet to multi-million unit production for numerous product lines. Michael holds a BS and MS of Materials Science & Engineering from UC Berkeley and Georgia Tech, respectively, and was advised by Prof. Gleb Yushin.
