A well-established Thai academic in the field of international energy, environmental, and public-private partnership laws, with regular publications in Thai and international law journals. In relation to projects relating to the circular economy and environmental sustainability, Piti served as a principal researcher in a project analyzing readiness of existing regulatory regimes on medical equipment remanufacturing. He served as a legal expert in a research project titled “Circular Economy Promotion Policy and Reformation (Phase 2)” and was responsible for drafting the Circular Economy Promotion Act. He was trusted by UNDP to provide legal opinions on a research project titled “Achieving Sustainable Low Carbon Growth in the City through Electrified Urban Transport System in Thailand, E-Transport in LCC)”. He has been trusted by PEA ENCOM International Company Limited, a subsidiary company of Provincial Electricity Authority to provide legal recommendation for smart energy city through distributed electricity generation. He was invited by Banpu NEXT Co., Ltd. to provide legal recommendation for transforming Samui Island into a low-carbon city under the name of “Green Island”. In relation to carbon pricing, Piti was trusted by the Office of the Securities and Exchange Commission to prepare guidelines on environmental sustainability including impacts on the EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) on listed companies. Currently, Piti has finished drafting amendments to the Petroleum Act B.E. 2514 (1971) and the Energy Industry Act B.E. 2550 (2007).
Piti has extensive experience representing state agencies and private developers in various power projects. He has served on the Education Advisory Board of the Association of International Energy Negotiators (AIEN) and has acted as an arbitrator for energy disputes at the Thailand Arbitration Center (THAC). Recognized as an expert by the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC), Piti has been nominated as a member of a public hearing committee for environmental and health impact assessments related to energy projects. He is also a member of the Law Development Commission, appointed by the Ministry of Energy of Thailand. Additionally, he serves on the Steering Committee on Climate Change Strategy, appointed by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment. The Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization has appointed him to the sub-committee on carbon markets and carbon pricing. Recently, the Energy Committee of the House of Representatives appointed Piti as an advisor to the Sub-Committee on Energy Price and Promotion of Competition in the energy sector.
