Mike Kenny, Managing Director/CEO B.E., C.P.Eng (Chartered Professional Engineer)., MIE(Aust)., SMIEEE, SMITE.   Mike Kenny is CEO and Managing Director of a global structure of MetroCount, comprising MetroCount Pty Ltd  (Australia), MetroCount (USA) Inc. MetroCount NL B.V, and MetroCount UK Ltd. He is an Electronic and Traffic Engineer, a Chartered Professional Engineer with membership ( License No. 176268) and this continuous qualification from Engineers Australia since 1985, and a Member of the global Intuition of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (MIEEE). MetroCount has been operating at the leading edge of data logging since 1987 when Mike started the company with microprocessor based product designs, firmware and software . From 1990, the company focussed on the development and production of traffic survey devices leading to the technically advanced MetroCount Vehicle Classifier. MetroCount is a now a world leader in the design and manufacture of MetroCount vehicle traffic counting/classifying equipment and software. MetroCount has offices in Australia (Head Office), United Kingdom and the USA. MetroCount products have been purchased for use in USA, UK, Australia, NZ and over 110 other countries. Research and Development – Under Mike’s direction MetroCount's R&D department is intrinsic to the company and is staffed by very innovative yet experienced engineers and software programmers.. MetroCount's researchers travel throughout the world to further their knowledge and understanding of industry requirements. A commitment to R&D is the reason for MetroCount being recognised as one of the most innovative hardware and software developers of traffic classifier systems in the world Mike graduated from the University of Western Australia in 1979 with a Bachelor of Engineering in electronics.  He then spent five years working in the design of digital data networks, digital microwave broadband links and mobile telephone services for Telecom Australia, in addition to the design of a data acquisition communication system used by America’s Cup yachts.  During this time he gained considerable experience in high level software development and project co-ordination. For two years, Mike was a founder and partner in Unitronics Pty Ltd, occupying a position of Director and Senior Design Engineer.  During this time as a consultant, he undertook major product development work for a number of public companies.  This gave him extensive experience in project supervision and technical co-ordination for overseas manufacturing of various consumer electronic projects.  His association with the client public companies, where he took on a major technical role, also comprised electronic design, production engineering, component sourcing and most aspects of product innovation and marketing. In September 1987, Mike incorporated and was Managing Director of Microcom Limited, a public company established to carry a number of his electronic innovations and designs through to the manufacturing and marketing stage.  Although most of the products were well developed, the effects of the ensuing stock market crash and the local investment scene slowed the company’s developments.  Microcom Ltd (now MetroCount) was restructured in 1989, taken over by Mike, and during the next 2 years, Mike undertook a range of research and design consultancies for other third party microprocessor projects involving hardware design and software development at both the machine code and c/Pascal levels.  These involved Infra Red control and data links, specialised Water Authority flow analysis software and a swimming pool alarm incorporating a solar powered wave motion discriminator with UHF radio links.  After this period, Mike Kenny concentrated MetroCount’s directions into specialised datalogger design with integrated hardware and software analysis packages.
