Yusuf Ibrahim is an Assistant Principal at Cardiff and Vale College. He is passionate about enhancing the leadership prospects for people from all walks of life, particularly those from under-represented backgrounds. Yusuf has worked at national level, contributing to the design and delivery of the adapted assessment model during the pandemic. He is currently leading the Anti-Racism Materials Project across the FE sector in Wales as well as leading significant curriculum areas within the college. A digital transformer, Yusuf is determined to ensure that new technologies are an enabler for positive change for all, allowing more people to access opportunities to learn and progress. Yusuf began as Religious Education & Psychology teacher and quickly progressed to lead on designing an new KS3 Skills Based Learning programme. Yusuf then undertook the pastoral leadership of a large Sixth Form in North London before being appointed as a senior leader in a rural Bristol school. Passionate about post-16 education, Yusuf moved across to Cardiff to work in one of the largest colleges in the UK. Here Yusuf successfully grew provision and enhacned outcomes before being appointed Assistant Principal. Currently, Yusuf is the only senior leader from a Global Majority background within the FE sector in Wales. A values-based leader and an advocate of Nudge Theory, Yusuf believes in creating the 'optimum architecture' to build supportives and systems to meet needs of learners, staff, communities and businesses.
