Armando Pires is a graduate of Electrical Engineering from the Technical University of Lisbon. He received his MSc degree in 1988 and PhD degree in 1994 in Electrical Engineering at the same university. He was the President of the Setúbal Polytechnic Institute (2006-2014). He was also the Vice-President of CCISP (Polytechnic Institutes Coordinating Council). He was the President of ASIBEI (Ibero-American Association of Engineering Education Institutions) and was a member of the Administrative Council of AULP (Association of Portuguese Speaking Universities). He is currently a full professor in Electrical Engineering at the Setúbal Polytechnic Institute in Portugal and Senior Researcher and Coordinator of the Energy Group at CTS/UNINOVA (Universidade Nova de Lisboa). He also works for the International Affairs of CCISP. He joined the Board of EURASHE in 2016 and has been elected President of EURASHE for a mandate of 2 years (2021-2023).
