Hector Rodriguez Valdes works at the intersection of education, applied ethics and emerging technology. With a Master's in Applied Ethics and three years of doctoral research on the ethics of emerging technologies, he explores how educators can respond to AI thoughtfully, critically, and practically. As Academic and Digital Lead for Enabling and Transition Courses at Charles Sturt University, Hector teaches critical thinking and leads initiatives in assessment design, academic integrity, digital learning and AI-enabled education. He believes technology should strengthen learning, judgement, and integrity rather than simply automate existing practice. Alongside his academic work, Hector designs and deploys AI systems in real-world contexts. He founded Quezzi, an Australian AI-powered SMS service that makes conversational AI accessible without apps or internet-based platforms.
