Zoe Flanigan leads AWS's healthcare business across the Australia and New Zealand public sector, driving digital transformation initiatives that make healthcare more equitable, accessible, and personalised for patients and clinicians alike. Under Zoe's leadership, her team has partnered with some of the region's most ambitious healthcare organisations to deliver transformative outcomes. Notable initiatives include NSW Health's Single Digital Patient Record, delivering Epic on AWS, the Australian Epilepsy Project which leverages Generative AI to reduce diagnosis-to-treatment time by 15 years, and Health New Zealand's National Shared Digital Health Record, providing clinicians with real-time visibility across all care sectors. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Zoe's team delivered critical solutions including the National Coronavirus Helpline and NSW's COVID SMS Results Notification system, which delivered PCR results to over 5 million patients and sent over 115M text messages! Zoe's approach to healthcare innovation is grounded in a deep commitment to enabling clinicians to spend more time with patients while ensuring health systems transform to deliver an interoperable, secure and high performing care ecosystem. She champions data-driven decision-making and works closely with healthcare leaders across clinical, technical, and executive functions to accelerate digitisation and unlock the full potential of cloud technology and AI. Before joining AWS, Zoe earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Michigan State University, where she competed as a student-athlete in Javelin for both the University and Australia. Her unique communication style—honed through an unexpected detour into standup comedy—brings clarity, authenticity, and a touch of humor to even the most complex healthcare challenges (and tough IT crowds). What started as a way to conquer stage fright became a masterclass in reading the room, landing a message, and making technical concepts accessible to any audience. Zoe is passionate about building partnerships that transform healthcare delivery and is driven by the belief that technology should empower users to improve interaction and decision making at every touchpoint, from the front line, to back office, to top levels of government.
