Peter Leonard, Principal, Data Synergies

Peter Leonard is a data, AI and technology business consultant and lawyer. His consultancy Data Synergies assists businesses and other organisations with AI and data governance, including technical design of privacy and confidentiality protecting data ecosystems, data flows and assurance controls, and legal compliance. He is an Adjunct Professor of UNSW Law & Justice. He was a founding partner of Gilbert + Tobin. He led that firm's technology and data practice for 28 years, until his retirement from biglaw in 2017. He serves on the OECD Expert Group on Data, AI and Privacy; Australia's National Data Advisory Council; the TGA's Technical Reference Group for SaMD and AI; and the Australian Treasury's CDR and Digital ID Standards Advisory Committee. He is an active director of a number of tech businesses, including Bodd, Elker and Iridium Australia.
