Negash Assefa is the Director of Information Technology (IT) at Maryland Department of Transportation(MDOT) Motor Vehicles Administration (MVA). Negash has a broad responsibility over all aspects of technology at MDOT MVA and provides leadership for the continued development of an innovative, creative, robust and secure information technology that allows MDOT MVA to provide premier customer service.
In his role as the Director of Information Technology, he oversees a staff of 120+ IT professionals that support over 110 business systems, 43 Production databases, 450+ SSRS and Crystal reports, MVA's e-commerce presence, the integrity, security, and availability of MDOT MVA’s systems and information, an average of 450 monthly Service Requests, 20-30 in flights IT projects, including the Administrations number one priority, a multi-million-dollar systems modernization project.
Since Joining MDOT MVA from the private sector in 2008, he has served in various positions at the MDOT MVA, including Project Manager, lead for innovation and process improvement, Manager of the Project Management office and most recently as Deputy Director of IT.
Negash is a graduate of The Krannert School of Management at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, with a BS degree in Management and minors in MIS and Finance.
