Dr Muhammad Zaka Emad is an Associate Professor in the Mining Engineering Program at the College of Petroleum & Geoscience, King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM), Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. With more than a decade of experience in mining and geotechnical engineering, Dr Emad specializes in the integration of advanced remote‐sensing technologies, such as UAVs and LiDAR, into mineral exploration, slope stability and mine planning and design workflows. His current research focuses on digital transformation in the mining sector, covering terrain modelling, volumetric analysis and data‐driven safety systems. He holds a BS, MS and PhD degrees in Mining Engineering (Specialization in Rock Mechanics) and has published numerous peer‑reviewed papers, led collaborative industry‑academic projects across the Kingdom, and served as a technical consultant for mining operations in challenging environments.
