Mohammed Shakir is an experienced asset management and equipment maintenance professional with a focus on supporting research infrastructure in academic environments. With over 20 years of domestic and international experience, he currently leads the Research Infrastructure and Equipment Maintenance function at the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), where he oversees the lifecycle management of critical laboratory equipment and technical assets.
In his role, Mohammed is responsible for developing and implementing sustainable maintenance strategies, minimizing downtime and the cost of maintenance, while ensuring high service levels for researchers across diverse scientific disciplines. He manages asset performance, preventive and corrective maintenance planning, and improvement initiatives that enhance equipment reliability and institutional research productivity. His work bridges technical operations, stakeholder coordination, and continuous process improvement to support complex research workflows and laboratory environments.
