Patrick Courtney, member of board of Directors, SiLA Consortium


Dr. Patrick Courtney is a seasoned expert at the intersection of laboratory automation, robotics, and molecular biology. With over 20 years of industrial experience, Dr. Courtney has shaped technology development as a director at PerkinElmer, Sartorius, and Cap Gemini, and through hands-on work with start-ups and SMEs in life science and healthcare sectors .
He co-leads the European Laboratory Robotics Topic Group under euRobotics, contributing to roadmapping efforts and stakeholder workshops that inform EU strategy on laboratory innovation.
Patrick joins ARABLAB LIVE 2025 as a member of the Board of Directors at SiLA (Standards in Laboratory Automation), advocating for instrument interoperability to support smart, connected lab environments.
Dr. Courtney holds a PhD in Robotic Engineering/Molecular Biology, an MBA, and boasts over 100 publications along with 10 patents. As a partner at tec‑connection, he continues to drive innovation in sensor integration, robotics, and technology transfer across laboratory settings.
