Emma Molobi, Principal Engineer, Transnet Freight Rail

Dr Emma Molobi is a Principal Engineer within Transnet Freight Rail, with over 13 years’ experience in the railway industry. Her expertise is in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering which ensures the quality, durability and performance of railway assets with particular focus on rolling stock assets. She is a certified International Welding Engineer with the International Institute of Welding, a Professional Engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa and an expert in additive manufacturing. She is committed to drive change and advancement in the engineering and railway industry and serves as a South African Chapter Ambassador for Women in 3D Printing, a member of the South African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, a U.S State of Department TechWomen Alumni and South Africa’s 2024 100 Shining Stars in the Science and Technology Category. She previously served as the Steering Committee member for the 20th International Wheelset Congress.
