Annualised salaries can streamline payroll – but get them wrong and the cost is high. In 2025, the Court judgments involving Coles and Woolworths highlighted just how easily underpayments can arise when annualised salaries are poorly structured, monitored or documented.
This session takes a practical, bookkeeper-friendly look at how to correctly set up and manage annualised salary arrangements. We’ll unpack what the 2025 decision means in real terms, what must be included in an employment contract, and the records and reconciliation processes needed to prove compliance.
We will step through key considerations such as award coverage, outer limits and loaded rates, rostering and overtime patterns, regular reviews, and how to identify and correct underpayments. You’ll walk away with a clear checklist of what to watch for when advising clients or employers on annualised salaries – and how to stay on the right side of Fair Work.
